Railfanning Trip Report: FDL to NEE (picture heavy-warning)

Here’s my latest trip report with pics.

My friend Ben and I decided to head to FDL in the AM and see what could be seen. We headed down US45 and turned on Subway road and found the first GEVO of the day: CN 2266. We’d eventually see 4 of them (3 CN and one NS!)

Ben wanted to get on the other side of the train before it hit the crossing because he liked the angle better. I caught a grab shot of him between cars.

As we got back to the truck to head south we both noticed something yellow sitting on a siding to the north. Some hiking (1/2 mile on a sno-mo trail!) found this to be a WC Crane!

So we headed further south towards the yard and found a switch engine idling away.

Detouring around the yard to the West and coming back to Lakeshore Drive we found this abomination that CN calls a WC caboose. Ben hadn’t seen it before. I guess something is better than nothing.

Once we got in the yard the first thing we saw was a Jordan Spreader idling on a siding.

Hearing a bell we looked east to see a slug/mother combo coming south with a string of cars to kick. Ben hadn’t seen a slug before so he wanted to know what kind of flat car that was. He meant well…[8D]
