Hey gang.
For those of you that might be interested, there’s an episode of Voyages coming on at 3:00am Texas time on History International about railroad accidents of the 1800s and early 1900s. I watched it earlier this after noon. Man, there were some terrible things that happened over the years… I’ll think about that from now on whenever I run my trains.

A friend of mine had a book on steam accidents from that era. NASTY stuff!
I’ve got a one hour video about passenger train accidents I tried watching it one night several months ago until it got to the part where it showed a particular accident where passenger cars had telescoped inside of others. You could see the dead jammed up against the windows. It grossed me out so bad I had to stop it right there…

Yeah, I saw that one too. That book my friend had showed a boiler explosion that took place in a round house. Completely leveled the whole building. I think it killed 17 people.
Hmm…I don’t think I can beat that…somehow stringlining 6 boxcars on a 22" curve on a 4% grade going 10 scale miles per hour just seems like a stupid mistake rather than a horrifing wreck…same with derailed cars sideswiping another train in the siding.
