Yesterday I stumbled on a 5 disc set of DVDs called “Railway Journeys - The Vanishing Age of Steam”. At first I wasn’t real excited about it, especially since there is a European locomotive on the front. But then I started reading the contents and among other things it said bonus content, “Santa Fe Odyssey Volume 1”. I paid $29 for “Santa Fe Odyssey Volume 1” from Green Frog, so I was suddenly interested and bought it.
Well, I just got finished browsing through the Discs. It is not the same as the Green Frog production, but has the same sort of content. I am happy with my purchase. Others might find the videos worth the $16 for the five disc set as well.
There are some good shots of Colorado narrow gauge equipment at the Colorado Railroad Museum, Georgetown Loop, and on the Cumbers & Toltec.
Other bonus contents:
Santa Fe Odyssey Volume 2
Wabash Railroad
The California Zephyr
Thanks for the heads up. I’d buy more train DVD’s but they are quite expensive. Someone mentioned around Christmas that found some steam DVD’s for $1 at either Freds or Big Lots.
loathar read my mind… I very much appreciate knowing they’re out there, but I’ve got about ten six hour VHS tapes full of train specials that I’ve been meaning to transfer to DVD. About the only thing that gets my attention anymore is old film footage from the 1940s and 50s.

I learned about this DVD set a while ago on another forum, and was pleasantly surprised to find in in our local Wal-Mart too. If you are looking for it, look for a sliver metal box with the European loco embossed on the cover. The package alone is something neat!
I’ve only had the time to check out part of the first DVD, and as has been mentioned, it is a first class production all the way. Can’t beat the value for under $20.00 - even here in Canada where everything usually costs more. Think I paid around $17.00 for my set.
