I have read where an army unit made up largely of former employees of a single raliroad ran a crucial rail supply line to link up with the air lift to China and later the re-opened Burma Road. Does anybody know more on this?
There were several US Army railway operating batallions sent to the China-Burma-India area of operations. This is about the 748th ROB which was “Sponsored” by the Texas & Pacific but contained soldiers from other railroads as we as non-railroaders.
