This looks like a real gem to be located in Galesburg, Illinois comparable to California facility.

Interesting, it certainly is something I would put on a trip planner.

Here’s a question I’ll throw out to the assembled multitudes: If you were on the nominating committee for the Railroad Hall of Fame, who would you nominate and why?

The ground rules are these:

  1. Casey Jones already has been nominated and selected.
  2. No CEO’s, past Presidents, or rail tycoons. Just operating people- trainmen, engineers, conductors, dispatchers, and trainmasters. Add in the MOW people to include signal maintainers.

Nominations, anyone?

Thanks,
Erik

In case you’re interested this came up the other day too.

Galesburg is a great RR town, but it is a bit off the beaten path for most folks to “drop by.” $60M is also a pretty big number to expect the RR’s to donate. I wi***hem the best, but its going to take a lot of visitors to provide the revenue stream to do the upkeep on a $60M facility.
