Railroad Hiring Sessions

Well, yesterday the snow got the best of me. I was contacted to go to a Norfolk Southern hiring session and really blew it. I left at 5:25am (average speed was about 45mph, Interstate only had 1 clear lane) and made it to Decatur before 8am, but could not find the hotel. The directions I printed out from map quest had the hotel on the opposite side of the city. By the time I found the hotel it was 8:25am. I tried to get in on the session, but one of the NS employees came to the door and said I had missed too much and that I would have to try a different session! Am I doomed or do the railroads give you another chance??

Stay safe!
Regards,
Jim

I hate it when that happens. Nothing will blow it for you quicker than being late day one.[B)]

Try again! I pissed off my interviewer (HR person) the first time around. I was the last one to interview and it was obvious that the panel was just going thru the motions. I told them they were wasting my time! I hired out 1 month later at a different location.

Ken, thanks for the advice and encouragement. I may see you out on the rails someday, if everything goes right for me!

I take it you’re wanting to be a conductor, eh? Seems they’re really starting to have tons of hiring sessions for those. I’m hoping they have another one in Pittsburgh…I plan to be there the next time around.

At hiring sessions when the doors close no one is allowed in if they specify 8:00 am that is the time it starts no exceptions.

P.S. good luck in the future.
