Thanks for your support and encouragement. I was very pleased when KUJA
asked how to join a society. This was what I had hoped my poll would generate.
I’m promoting all societies. Don’t care which one someone joins, just that they join.
Ray. Your welcome, historical societies and associations in allot of cases are what truly keep RR’s alive.Long after they have become a fallen flag.Besides for younger people it’s a fun way of learning history ,if the society is big enough to have a full blown museum such as yours or the one I belong to. Rob
As you probably know, there are only 15 lines for the names. I knew I couldn’t get them all in but hoped to generate interest in the societies.
I want everyone to know how cheap it is to belong to one of them ( usually under $30.00
per year ) and you get way more value back in many ways like specific info on your
favorite railroad. Plus you can meet other people interested in that RR. Lots of pluses.
I think it’s great that you belong to 5 societies. Which ones are they ?
I think the societies are listed in either the Dec.,Jan. or Feb.or March issues of
MODEL RAILROADER magazine. Usually several pages long. You should find
one for the railroad you like.
I’m a member of the Bay Area Electric Railroad Association, which is mostly Sacramento Northern oriented and therefore technically under the WP umbrella, even though we like our trains electric!
I was a bit disappointed not to see Espee in the listing, although I’m not a member–but working at the California State Railroad Museum is practically the same thing, as so much of the material and collections are SP/CP related–aside from all the V&T stuff we have, of course!
