What is the difference between a siding and a spur?

I don’t know if there are official definitions, but a siding is normally connected to the mainline on both ends, while a spur has a single connection, with a bumper of some type at the other end. Sidings are primarily used for meets (passing) or stopping at stations, while spurs are usually industry tracks. Hope that helps!
