railroad paint schemes/practices

I’m modelling burlington 1940’s 50’s era. not sure yet which one.
does anyone know of a good reference for information about the railroads paint schemes and also rr operation practices that are specific to that railroad?
One of the things I’m curious about is the specific date when particular paint schemes were applied. chinese red, silver, black and orange stripe scheme, grey freight diesels. etc.
Thanks alot, :>)

Look over on the left under “Groups”, and “Historical Societies” under that. The one for the Burlington (might be under Chicago, Burlington & Quincy) should have a way for you to get the information you are looking for.

Gregg,
thanks for the suggestion, I went ahead and sent them an inquiry about this info via email.
What I really was hoping for was a difinitive reference book on CB&Q or even a well laid out website, its nice to have the info there when you need it , if you know what I mean.

Check for CB&Q books published by Four Ways West and Morning Sun Books. I have purchased books on the GN from both companies and am well pleased with what they have produced. The books are chock full of color pics of the GN motive power and rolling stock.
