Railroad reality show

Maybe with all the industrial reality shows they will come up with a railroad show. We have fishing, logging, and now a container show. They could work out of a large RR yard in the west maybe. Time will tell just wishful thinking.

Thats funny…After I seen the containers, I thought the same thing.

Get that camera behind a locomotive, dispatcher, chief, hump job…ect

That would be kinda cool. The industry would certainly get some much needed exposure with such a series.

After I saw shows like the “Deadliest Catch” and “Ax Men”, why not? I think with the proper format it could fly on a channel like History or Discovery. If we have any tv folks around here, maybe it would work.

Would it be a real reality show or the crap they call reality shows. By real I mean like the ones where they follow real people and you get to know them and see what they do, mostly not what you are going to find on the music channels.

I thought that’s what a reality show was, one that followed them around learning what they do, like COPS. Sounds like a good idea to me.

Liability would be a big issue I’m sure. The class 1’s may not like the idea of camera crews on their trains and in their yards. I do think the show would work. Ice Road Truckers and Deadliest Catch are good shows IMO.

Yeah, but you know that there would have to be at least one incident per show that would result in the curmudeonly trainmaster berating a hapless crew for something that wasn’t their fault. Or an irate customer complaining at the crew about how their car was delivered at the wrong time, or something. Or they’d have to hit a car at a crossing. Or something.

Plain old mundane railroading wouldn’t attract much of an audience. We’d all be watching, but few others…

How many people watch racing waiting for the next crash, or hockey for the next fight?
