This is not just something that happened this year. We’ve had both parties control Congress during these years.
A good point. Where would it take us to find out who’s paid the necessary army of lobbyists to keep the RRB spending level flat during these years? Follow the money.
Politicians, do-gooders, and self-appointed financial wizards must be made to keep their hands off employee retirement systems.
It’s been under attack many times in the past.
Years back when some airlines’ pensions were in trouble, I was surprised that airline employees weren’t merged into Railroad Retirement. I expected some politician to use rhe excuse that it could be done because airlines and employees are covered under the Railway Labor Act.
