A friend told me he would like to hear the sounds of his childhood with the sounds of steam, whistles, bells, engines, etc, etc. Surely in this day and age with all this technology, there must be some CD’s that would bring him some nostalgia. Can any one suggest a title or source where these are available? this would make an old geezer( like me) very happy. (I tried a couple of sites, to no avail) thanks
Check out www.historicrail.com . They have recordings of steam and diesels.
This one is excellent:
There are some on LP that didnt’ make it to CD. Perhaps some Purveyor of RR sound has a CD, or someone that has CD burning capability that can download from the internet… Most (99%) Computers wth CD capabililty can only COPY aother CD.
[Tatans,
In addition to the above information, check out www.greenfrog.com
Green Frog has tapes and DVDs available with locomotive sounds on them, some of them as pleasant background sounds.
They’ve been around at least since the 80s and their products and have a good reputation.
MRC sells a sound system that has a remote in which you control sounds like locomotive bells, whistles, horns, idling diesels, clicity clack sounds, generally sounds associated with railroading in diesel or steam…it’s not too expensive either…i think i paid $35.00 for it at Hobby lobby…it comes with the plug in transformer, a hand held remote control, and two speakers…chuck
