Railroad visiting

Is there anyway a person can get permission to photograph on railroad property. I my self would love to photgraph trains from the CSX Frontier Yard and may get a tour of some of the facility. Any chance of that happening?

Good Luck.

The chance for a non-railroad employee non-US citizen getting access to a major yard facility is not good in the post 9-11 world. Even a non-employee U.S. citizen is very unlikely to get such consideration without serious connections in the company.

I would rate your chances as 1:100,000,000, but good luck anyhow.

It would be a lot easier to get permission from a shortline or regional, than a class one road,as they tend to be friendlier. Good luck with CSX though.[:)]

Sorry but LC is right.Getting into the yard for pics is very difficult. The only exception to the rule was when the 2816 came through here last month.CSX was nice enough to let people photograph her.Other than that they frown upon visitors. If you do ask be polite take pics leave footprints and good luck.

I doubt if anybody could get permission to visit any “Class 1” railroad facility anywhere given the concerns of terrorism; this might also apply to regional railroads as well. Your best bet would be to stick to the short lines or the tourist railroads for the time being.
