Railroadiana in your train room?

Do you have any interesting railroadiana in your layout space or anywhere else for that matter? With the exception of a few old calendar and catalog train pictures, I have a conductor’s pouch from the K&KR RR - the Keokuk and something railroad and a few kerosene (not real railroad ones) lanterns.

I have a couple of pieces of rail, a tie plate, a brake pipe and hose, a UP briefcase, and a Railway Express sign.

I collect patches from the various trains I’ve ridden and the former railroads that originated the lines. I also have photos of trains I’ve ridden and have seen at museums, etc…

A NYCMTA subway redbird number panel. An RF&P lantern. A wooden sign and various other parts like Lynn Tractor lamps from the Emporium / Grasse River RR logging railroad in upstate NY. Just a few things from RR’s that personally mean something to me.

I’ve got an L&N Lantern, a Pullman blanket(two, actually), a box of UP matchbooks shaped like a heavyweight, a spike from N&W’s Virginia Creeper line, some misc. L&N papers, an L&N pencil, and some misc. pictures. Also a telephone(in use) and a desk fan(used sometimes) that were used in an L&N camp car for many years. Of course, there’s no layout there yet. I had an aunt whose husband worked as an electrical engineer on L&N from the time after WWII up until not long before his death in 1964. Knowing my interest in trains, she gave me several L&N items they had aquired while he worked for them, and I was able to obtain several more upon her death.

I have various railroadianna, including two lanterns from a shortline in Michigan, numerous heralds, and train-related knick-knacks.

I have several spikes from the trestle that crossed my grandfathers farm creek, I wish I had photo’s of that old trestle as it’s long gone as are the rails and ties. I remember picking those spikes up in the early '50’s with my brother, now I’m curious as to when that trestle was built.

I’ve got three original kerosine railroad lanterns (two CN and one CP), a later battery-powered railroad lantern, real crossbucks from a railroad crossing, an old-style tin “DEPOT” sign, an old-style wooden “Welcome To Grand Central Station” sign, a couple of engineer’s hats, spikes and lots of old ads and pictures of trains (although there’s much fewer ads and pictures up now than a few years ago due to shelves being added to accomodate the trains I keep collecting).

I have B&O stock certificates and a Chessie Calander in the downstairs bathroom. You wouldn’t believe how many people seem to read the stuff on the walls.

There are 2 NYC lanterns. I also have framed b&w posters of Grand Central Station and a train that ran through a wall of a station in France in the late 1800’s.

I have 2 posters Modern Locomotives and Steam Locomotives.

I also have a railroad spike . ( My Grandpa spray painted it gold when I was 5!)

WE have tins of Lionel and C& O, shelves with some of our 1/43 autos, and an Oil Painting and we also have N& W rr lanterns.

walking along the railroad one day i picked up some spikes, a tie plate, some thing that i’m not sure about, and i almost had a crossing gate but it got taken away before i could get it. just stuff laying around from when they refinished the tracks. the last time i was home there was a block signal laying down…

Wow, Tom! I just added a piece of ‘pink lady’ ballast from an old abandoned pile near the bike trail that used to be the C&NW’s tracks to Elgin (IL)
