Anyone know how the Alaska RR experiment with GPS is going? Saw an article in Trains on their consideration of replacing current signaling with GPS equipment on their rolling stock. Also, what about the asphalt sub-roadbed BNSF was laying in the Canadian River area of Texas, New Mexico, etc? Are these newer technologies going anywhere?
What are these for? GPS to identify train locations insted of wiring on the tracks?
