railroading weekend plans

Is anybody going to be doing anything with thier trains this weekend, if so what. I gonna be putting in my walthers drawbridge over the cuyahoga river and finishing up the Cleveland Industrial area trackage. Hopefully I will be switching it by Sunday morn. Cant forget to spend time with family though. Be safe.

I’ll be camping with my family. In fact probably not to far from you. We will be at Pokagon State Park right on the Indiana, Ohio border. But I’ll definitely have some train mag’s with me.

I’ll finish re-scenicking Mt. (insert name here).

I hope to do some scenic work on the branch line Sunday or Monday (going railfaning Sat). The layout area is the coolest area in the house on hot days so I do some modelng during the heat of the day.

I’m heading to the Illinois RR Museum tomorrow. I was going to chase 261 and 2816 in Minnesota, but I really wasn’t looking forward to the 4-1/2 hour drive up there!

I’m going to fix 2 problem areas on my main line where my BLI Mikado de-rails regularly. Basically, the problem is a small shift in the track where I had gapped the rail. I also have to fix my lift out section which does not fit well due to some swelling of the lumber used. Finally, I hope to start the bench work for the peninsula. I left home early last Sunday for a business trip out west and have not done anything for a week! I can’t wait to get back into it. Since my wife went to a bead show as soon as I got home, I have every right to spend some time in the layout room[:D]

Well tonight (Friday) I’ll be going to my friend’s house to “play” on his layout, like I do on most Friday evenings. He has a huge, basement filling New Haven layout.

Before I go there, though, I’m stopping at my LHS to check out progress on his Rock Island layout in progress in the basement of the shop. I usually go there on Saturday afternoons, but I’ve got company coming from out of town for the July 4th weekend, so will with be them on Saturday and at least part of Sunday. If they leave early enough Sunday, I might take a drive over to the Union Depot Museum in Mendota, IL to hang out, “play” with the layout there, and do a bit of railfanning on the Burlington/ATSF double track mainline between Chicago and Galesburg, IL which runs by the depot.

I finally finished painting the basement floor and got my train room cleaned out so hopefully I will be able to get some track laid and possibly get the bugs out of the new transistor throttle.
