Two of my favorite websites are Trains and Morningstar. Morningstar is a fantastic website for those interested in personal finance. They have a free website and a “premium” site. By the way…this is NOT an attempt to have anyone buy a subscription to their website…there is plenty of free info available.
Today there is an article on the railroad industry and “why it may be different this time”.
I would suggest you take alook at the article. Note how the investment world view this industry that we are so passionate about. The article also addresses the “reregulation” aspect of the industry.

Morningstar issues research reports on all of the major railroads, usually every quarter. They have been proclaiming the “pricing power” for quite some time. This article is simply an industry view…note the “why it may be different” attitude, which is a code phrase in the investment industry for BEWARE.
