Rails for War?

Anyone here have any military trains they run? I know Ian of Dunnunder has a section of German stuff. But few people ever mention it?/

Working on it, Cap!

Sure!

My younger son in command.

It is still 1906 in Rosebud Falls, we have yet to encounter your “War to End All Wars”

Several Vetrans of the Late War Between the States still lead productive lives here in Rosebud Falls.

Hey Capt.,
None here. Thought about doing a troop train. Too many other projects first. Later eh…Brian.

Torby,
What on earth (pun intended) have you built there??? An elevated indoor line? With REAL dirt? That’s gotta’ be heavy. Any more pics? Later eh…Brian.

Lots of pics! See http://www.gardentrack.com/facillity/facillity.html for my latest misadventure.

I don’t remember his name, but during the Denver Convention, we saw an entire backyard full of WW II battlefields, complete with troop trains, rail cannons, concrete bunkers, and blown up French villages.

Awesome work. And the German visitors seemed to enjoy it.

This site has pretty neat stuff, but a bit to much for me…

Does anybody else know a site that carries tanks etc that are some sort of 1:22+/- scale?
Looking to have s sherman or the next best thing, but all I find are 1:18 or 1:77…

However, I am thinking of buying some of this stuff but not sure if it would match up at all… http://www.michtoy.com/MTSCnewSite/scenic_diorama_folder/build_a_rama/build-a-rama.html

I’ve got a Revell 1/35 kit armoured railcar on a LGB motor bogie, hoping they reissue the kits as I need another 7 to make up the full armoured scout train.
There are two Dragon Leopold rail guns in the garage waiting for time to build them and broad gauge them to 45mm.
For anyone doing WW1 there are quite a few kits available for the european prototypes in the UK. www.ipengineering.co.uk
has some nice MOD (ministry of defence) wagons and petrol tractor kits.
There are others but as they aren’t all on the web!

Hi Capt Carales
I don’t have a military train but it would not be that hard to create one.
Take a suitable flat car sand bag it put a gataling gun and crew or other suitable gun on the flat car.
Get locomotive sand bag the boiler place flat empty car in front of gun car then locomotive followed by box car flat car with tarped military looking load add a passanger car at the back populated by suitable figures add a caboose /guards van and you got a military train.
A train as described would look best with Civil war or Colonial troops on board
but if done right the train could revert to civilian use fairly easy.
regards John

Dragon offer those too - I have one that I mounted on an old MDC power bogie. Originally built as the kit instructions intended (well, half built - I got bored!) it’s now had all the details added and is currently halfway through a repaint. Given Dragon also now offer the “Leopold” gun I wonder if Revell have sold the tooling?

Back in I think Aug 2000, GRR mag had a nice outside Lionel layout that had artillery pieces in cement fortifications.

Also, in one of the GRR mags (which one??) was a nice article on a rail gun (with exploding sounds, and a target structure which exploded with 4 mousetraps inside.

Of course, I think that USA Trains still makes the militart series.

Excellent Suggestion… I may just try that.

Does it fire ATOMIC shells? That is one impressive machine!!!

Hmmm you could always do a Spanish American War train even. If my memory serves Teddy stole the train the infantry was going to use that was to get them to the boat. I do believe they had stock cars for the horses.Up to WWI you would have had stock cars for the horses.
Could use a military train for anything really, doesnt have to be a time of war.
