Railshop or F&C H30

I’d like to add 2-3 H30s to my PRR freight car collection over-time. And the options are F&C, Railshop and of course brass, but I’ve ruled out brass as an option. So,that leaves F&C or Railshop kits on the table. So I ask what would you suggest for someone who has built many IMRC, Red Caboose, P2K and the like kits? But not many resin models at all (indeed, just a caboose long ago and a flat-car).

Thank you

Alvie

I’ve not built either version of the H30, but the Rail Shop version may have slightly better instructions than those from F&C.
My B&O M-53 is from F&C and was an easy build once I looked at a prototype drawing for the Duryea underframe.

As I recall, the instructions for the Rail Shop carbon black hopper were a little vague in spots, but, with a little thought, useable.

I’ve found that most of these types of kits can be better- and/or more easily-built by reading through the instructions carefully, then modifying some of the suggested orders-of-assembly or methods of construction. My first Westerfield kit had no instructions (new in box but previously-owned) but wasn’t especially difficult to build.
