Has anyone got any tips on how to do it?

The new MRR scenery book describes a way to do this. It even includes “real” lightning.
I thought about but only recently when some one mentioned modeling lightening or rain. So I think I would like to try it on my new layout wifh is supposed to get started before the end of the month. I’m gonna have to get on the ball cus November is comin up quick.
Just had an idea; you cauld have a places that are below grade and flood it!! only a scale foot or two, 3, 4, what ever, sounds pretty cool to me and it would be easy enough to do with acrilic water and a foam base. Sure, I think I’ll try it myself.
