Raleigh applying for federal grant for new station
A big city like Raleigh deserves a much larger train station. Even the present station is bigger and decent compared to the concrete shanty in use as a train station in Houston (pop.: over 2,200,000), the 4th largest city in America.
Gas prices on the rise - good to see city planners looking ahead to the integrated transportation needs of their citizens.
I did not see mention of other modes of transportation.I think that is key because each mode feeds the others and makes it that much more useful for people.Example:Salt Lake City has a hub that has Amtrak, local bus, commuter rail,Greyhound and lite rail all at one station.Lite rail will soon connect this hub to the airport.
This needs to be done; that and the Charlotte Light rail completion. Rail is still a valuable and critical service to North Carolina in conjunction with our State Highway system.
