Ramax 2 bay covered hoppers-Questions about them...

I have found an old, old HO Scale Ramax 2 bay covered hopper. Do any of you own one? If so, how hard is it to assemble? Any flaws I should know about?

Thanks in advance.

Great kit probably not up to the standards of today but it should be easy to add wire handrails. etc. Just be sure to add weight before you seal it up because there is no way in once you do. I fill covered hoppers with plaster - self leveling, fills all voids, adds considerable weight and cheap. Excess wipes off if there are leaks with a damp rag.

It was a nice kit. Easy to put together. One of the decal outfits even made decal sets for them I don’t recall which one., but I know Southern because I used a set. If I remember right you held it together to dry with a rubber band and yes put some weight in before you glue it up…Cox 47

Great Kit I built a dozen of them, the decals were by Herald King which makes it problematic to find some now, although you can probably find some Microscale to work.

This car is the basis for the more detailed Detail Associates car, they bought the dies and made the wire handrails and assorted other correct details.

The very first one I built, I messed up royally!!!
Then I found liquid cement and a brush and these 2 items changed everything.
The hardest part was the very first joint made with the top and one of the sides.
After that it was a piece of cake. Just remember to let the glue set up a bit before you add another pass with the brush. Whatever you do, DO NOT use glue in a tube!!!
After adding extra weight when building these, I used either Central Valley trucks, or at least trucks with metal wheels for extra weight.
Good luck,
