Rapido Caboose

So, what do you guys think about them? I got my preordered Toronto, Hamilton and Buffalo version about 3 weeks ago to add to my caboose collection. I like them, the level of detail is right up there with the passenger cars they produce. The lights are a great feature as well. Kind of expensive but in my opinion they are well worth the price. I checked the wheel gauge and coupler heights and they are bang on. I can’t wait to get the rest of my order, especially the Ontario Northland version.

I just received mine two days ago and it is detailed to the point that it is to fragile to be used. When I opened the box the two wheelsets toward the center of the car were laying in the box, that in itself was no problem but when I proceeded to insert one axle into the truck I broke one off the step lights off. The mounting post broke off in the side of the body and when I tried to file the remainder of the post off the side of the body I scratched the paint on the side sill.[B)] It was my fault on the paint and I am not blaming Rapido but the details are so easy to break and this car will have to have extra care in handling. The axles being out of the truck were not an issue as they went right back in ,while I know that a lot of people would say with what I paid for this car I should not have to repair it right out of the box but I don’t sweat the small stuff !! Life is to short as it is and I am a model railroader and I am having fun !!

Mine is the Chessie System Caboose and I love it. They got the paint colors just right and the interior lights are a little too bright but the marker lights are great. You can even turn the marker lights on or off on either end. The open grating on the ends and steps is fantastic. Overall I’d say you can look at it all you want just don’t touch it!![8D]

I didnt know Rapido made Cabooses…I thought they made VANS

Ive go 5 Vans on order…and I cant wait!

Whose the bald dude with the shades? Looks like he’s going somewhere FAST![8)]

Glad you like the caboose! Sorry - glad you like the “van”! [:)]

If any parts break in handling, give Dan a shout at the office - 1-877-738-6445. If he’s got it, he’ll send you a replacement.

While technically damage from handling isn’t covered by the warranty, if we ever have a part that you need we will send you a free replacement, even if it’s an older product. Dan has quite a collection of grab irons, hand rails, and other little bits stored in two of those big Canadian Tire 60-drawer parts cabinets sitting on his desk. He’s happy to help if he can.

Best regards,

Jason

See I told you guys he reads this board…lol Glad to see some manufactures listen to what we have to say.

I started off on my Rapido madness rampage by listening to a friend of mine who said just buy tow or three of their cars and put them in the front of the train so they give a good impression and make up the rest with older cheaper stuff like my Rivarossi/IHC collection. Yeah you know how long that lasted…lol Hum I think one of those D&H cabooses and maybe an undecorated one will mysteriously find their way into my staging yard soon.

Yes, they do seem to pay attention to what that customers say, which is a plus, That being said, does anyone know if they are changing the “&” to “AND” on the Norfolk and Western passenger cars they do?

If you click on the title the pictures clearly show the “and” with the exception of the baggage but the N$W did use both in lettering their cars the “and” seems to be more for passenger cars and the & for freight and RPO and baggage cars
