Rapido - Canadian second release

Well, my second set of the Canadian arrived today.

My first set had to be returned to Rapido due to the amount of damage to the sturups and missing handrails and damage to front pilot on one of the A units.

Rapido, repaired my engines, could hardly tell they were the same units.

Well, with baited breath I opened the box, carefully slid out the second box removed the bubble wrap and inspected the display box. Opened the display box and carefully pulled out the three EMD units.

With the exception of the B unit which had a loose handrail which was easily reattached there was no damage on any of the three units. Considering the amount of added detail on these engines I am amazed that there were not a few pieces of the detail parts lying loose in the containers.

A cursory check of the 10 passenger coaches revealed no damage with the exception of one wheel had been jarred out of its truck. This was easily replaced. Could find no loose pieces.

What a change from the first set.

I wish all of you that did not order a set of the Canadian, could see these engines and passenger cars. You would not believe the amount of detail . Simply amazing.

If you ever see the Rapido FP9’s you will want to upgrade your Walthers, Intermountain and Genesis units.

Rapido certainly has set a new standard of finish and quality.

Beautiful, but a little too costly for my RR budget. I would love to support a Canadian manufacturer being a Canuk myself but too much for my pocketbook sadly. Enjoy your purchase for all of us…

Choo Choo

Just picked up my first Rapido passenger car a few days ago. Rest assured I’ll be buying more. That little light wand is just too darn fun to play with…

This set makes me want to switch to HO. Rapido, I promise I will buy a set and a half if you ever make it in N.

I remember years ago living in Cranbrook and was driving to Fairmount Hot Springs one day and the Canadian was on the tracks going eastward on its way to Calgary.

There had been an avalanche in the Golden area and the Canadian was detouring via the Crows Nest section. There sure was a lot of rail traffic piling up.

The next eastern run of Canadian stopped in Golden and bused the passengers to the other side of the slide. So just the one train used the detour.
