Rare Electric Locomotives

Where can I find HO New York Central electric 3rd rail locomotives i.e. DD-1 and pre GG-1 electric catenary locomotives i.e P5a. What model railroad manufacturer does them?

That would be second hand brass - and they ain’t cheap!

The DD-1 and GG-1s were Pennsy and never saw GCT.

I have a GG-1, 2 P5a and 2 P5a Modified, an O-1-C and and a B-1 switcher as well as the Commuter MUs, P-70 casches and pullmans. All of the engines were manufactured by NJ Custom Brass. They occasionally appear on E-Bay. Some of the Eastern hobby shops (NJ, PA and NY) have consignment brass that might have what you are looking for. Look in the dealer directory in the back pages of MRR and call around or write them.

Since my new layout in planning wil be exclusively New Haven prototype, I will be offering my Pennsy (and Reading RR) roster on E-bay in the near future.

You can try googling brass locomotives and see where that takes you. Thank heavens i model the New Haven in the Berkshires so I don’t need the catenary though i did get one of Branford Hobbies EP-5’s just because. J.R.

NYC electrics you might be interested in…are the P2s, Ts, and S2s. I don’t know if these are available as models though. As to the EP5s (E40s under PC), these ran into GCT…until one went up in flames during rush hour in the 1970s.

GMT,

I’ve been considering for the longest to get a Branford NH EP5. How do you like yours? Appearance? Detailing? Performance?

i picked up a decorated NYC s1 switcher on ebay some years ago for a good price. it doesn’t run very fast and other guys that have the same loco say they barely run at all.
