Wanted to try something new. I want to start a list of either one of a kind locomotives or rare engines. They must be still in use by a railroad. Museum pieces are allowed only if they are not a static display. Lets see where we go with this.
The BEEP The Argentine KS shop rngine for the BNSF started out as a Baldwin switch engine rebuilt with a EMD 567 series 1500 hp motor and electrical system in the 70’s stiul painted in the old blue and yellow paint last I saw it in the late 90’s
Whitcomb 12 tonner at IRM
A pair of RS1325’s on Illinois & Midland.
Paul,
Are those still out there and running? I really need to get out and see them next time I’m in IL if they are!
SMS Rail Lines has Baldwins, including an AS616.My employer use a DS 4-4-1000.
Are the old SP&S Alcos still in use? Also, wasn’t there a type of engine nicknamed an “Alligator”? running somewhere on the Lake Superior and Ishpeming, or thereabouts? Are they still running?

SP&S 303 is running as Adirondack 4243. I rode on her last fall.
The BL20-2s. It appears one is now on the San Joaquin Valley Railroad, I will see it about once a month. It seems like I heard the other two are with Central Oregon and Pacific.
The LS&I “Alligators” (RSD-15’s) were sold to the Green Bay and Western, then were used on the Fox Valley Railroad.(GB&W and FVRR were owned by the same company at the time.) After GB&W/ FVRR were merged into Wisconsin Central, they were cut up or sold for scrap, except #2407, which went to the Illinois RR Museum. HTH[8D]
The GM GMD1. Most of the GMD-1’s are either still working for CN, are on short lines, are working in Cuba, or are in museums.
The only GMDH1 is probably still in use at Kaybob, Alberta. I’d call this one ugly. It was demo 800. It looked like demo 600 pictured here-

Are there any Alco C415’s left ?
Probably the rarest on CN besides the IC 6071, the WC 2500. The only SD35 on any class 1s I believe. Alec
About two weeks ago, I chased a Santa Fe GP30 ( in blue and yellow paint) through metro Atlanta. I caught up to it at Doraville yard during crew change. Engineer told me it was just “passing through”.
There is one here in Australia, over in the Hamersly region of WA, i believe it’s at a museum, in operating condition, i think it has been leased back to the railway over there on occasions for work trains etc. this was the ALCo demonstrator. i’m not sure about the US.
The orange Empire Railway Museum in Perris,CA. has 2 ALCo RSD1s. One is used regularly on the main line train.
