Ravenna Ohio NS Mainline

What the scanner frequency for the NS Mainline through Ravenna Ohio that goes from Cleveland Ohio through here out to Pennsylvania?

Maybe CSXno601 from YouTube knows. Hey Rich can you tell me what the frequency is in Ravenna?

Hello,

This is Rich (CSXno601). The frequency that mainline trains use is 161.070 - that is the NS road channel. The yardmaster, Cleveland Terminal and Pittsburgh West dispatcher’s also use this frequency. Be aware that Ravenna is on the cab-signal stretch of track, so there are hardly any trackside signals (only 12 sets of signals between Cleveland and Alliance), so very little radio chatter occurs on NS in Ravenna. They do call the signals at CP “RAVE” where Rave tower used to be in Ravenna, which is now called CP 86. Other than that, they only talk upon cab signal aspect change, which is fairly uncommon in Ravenna.

Write back if you have any more questions. Also, you mind me asking who this is?

Hi. Thanks for telling me about the frequencies. I’ve watched your videos on YouTube for about 2 years now and I think there the best. I’ve been to Berea many times. On June 30th 2007 I saw 35 trains in 5 hours and I taped that. I will someday get a YouTube Account and post that video and all the other videos I got. I live in Northeast Ohio and also visit Perry Ohio to watch and video trains there. You should go there sometime. It’s best to go there during the Winter because the mainlines that run through there the trains go 60-70 MPH sometimes and the snow blows just like in your last video you made in Brady Lake. I been with forum since September and I my name is Tommy. Tom for short. My favorite railroads are CSX and BNSF. I like BNSF because of the H3 scheme. Thanks for asking who I was and keep up the good work on all your up coming videos. Boy this this past Friday at my house it was -20 Degrees with wind chill it was -35 Degrees. My school was closed that day. All schools in Northeast Ohio were closed. How cold did it get at your house? Thanks For Reading.

It is quite nippy down here too. About 11 degrees, excluding the wind chill.

Expect another one of the “snowy” videos tonight. I just spend two day’s of my four-day weekend videotaping and photographing 60 MPH NS trains around eastern Cleveland. A couple jacked up my lens, but nothing a good cloth cannot fix.

I have been to Perry plenty of times. I had even caught a train - CSX Q161 - there before. If the roads were not so bad, I’d love to, and be more than happy to go railfanning on the CSX Erie West Sub. But that line is mostly reserved for summer/spring/autumn when my friend Tim Sullivan (tpatrick) and I go railfanning together. I prefer places such as Geneva, Erie, Conneaut, Westfield, North East and Ripley, due to the excellent photo/video ops.

Keep checking out my videos, I don’t plan on quitting anytime soon, and if you’d also like to see my photos, they are available to look at, at http://unicapital.rrpicturearchives.net/

Enjoy!
