I have noticed recently that whenever the RC locos are running, there is a lot of booming slack action. Could it be because the person controlling the loco is actually quite a distance away at the far end of the cut and not where such things can be felt?
Not being on the train would be part of it, but remember RCO’s are not locomotive engineers. Running a train, and especially switching cars, is an art form that someone with a box strapped to their chest will never understand
they are switching without air…the cars are bleed off so they role free…and the only brake to stop them is on the locomotive… the slack you hear is the sound of it running it when the brakes are applied on the engin…it wouldnt make a differnce if it was a RCL or with an engineer…they would both stop the cars in the same way
