I was reading a post somewhere hereabouts that was asking about decoders for his P1K Budd RDCs. I have a couple and I use Digitrax DZ123 decoders.
Since all my other engines have sound it would be nice to have sound for these RDCs. Anybody have any Ideas about a source of sound for a pair of detroit Diesel 6-110 engines, as in a RDC as well as the bells and whistles that would go with it? Such a sound track may be available for some of the newer programable sound decoders.
Any Ideas anybody?

Hello Train,
Good topic. I have one P1K RDC and wish I could get accurate sound for it.
As you know the problem is that RDCs sound more similar to the old GMC transit buses, so EMD, GE, Alco, or the Galloping Goose sound decoders would be ruled out.
I’ve been hoping that someone has a prototype recording of RDCs in action. Good news is that a number of them still exist, but some have been re-engined with more modern, fuel efficient diesels.
Trinity Rail Express (in Texas?) runs RDCs. I’ve been wondering if anyone here lives near these routes. (Wishful thinking) would be good if a railfan or modeler with a good quality recorder and micorphone could call and arrange a visit with a rail shop that maintains these railcars. .
A friend of mine pointed out that a good recording would require the: start up sequence, idle, gradual throttle up/down, shut down so that a decent sound editing job could be performed on a programmer.

David, aren’t RDCs still being used in Canada?
