I threatened to do it. This pic shows the patients, the RDC chassis (foreground) and the TMCC equipped GP9 behind. I won’t go into the dirty details although it wasn’t too difficult an adaptation. Basically, it required swapping the entire running gears into the other chassis with a slight amount of jury rigging around the truck mountings.
The GP9 was a simple mounting of conventional control workings. Problem now is the E unit’s not fully cycling and only goes into forward every 4th power cycle. While the effort spent mounting the TMCC workings onto the RDC chassis was time consuming it really wasn’t any more difficult. Worked just fine on it’s first try. I think the generic sounds of the engine and horn blast suit the RDC perfectly. I need to play with the lighting to more fully illuminate the car, plus figure out what to do with the strobe. Maybe a flashing set of tail markers?
