RDG/PRR/LV etc. in Susquehanna Valley (PA)

Recently moved from Long Island (NY) to Lewisburg ¶. In search of anecdotes, history, fan web sites regarding rail heritage in the area, including Sunbury, Williamsport, Milton, Selinsgrove, Shamokin. Highlights, lowlights and former employees welcome. Today, it’s all NS/CPR and Richard Robey short lines. Interesting, but just not the same!

I assume you know of the Central PA Chapter NRHS and their preserved White Deer (ex-Reading Company) station. If not, contact them through their National Director, Robert Yannaccone, 611 Main St., Watsontown, PA 17777-1511. Those folks will quickly answer all your questions and much more ! Chapter meets 4th Wednesday each month at 6:30 PM - contact Mr. Yannaccone for location. (I believe they have dinner meetings.) Their station is visible from US 15 at White Deer, just north of Lewisburg.
James E. Bradley Hawk Mountain Chapter N.R.H.S.

Forgot to mention - the White Deer station/museum is normally open Sunday afternoons through September , a quick way to contact the Central PA Chapter NRHS.

Welcome to the area! One place to check may be Englishs Model RR in Montoursville. The guys up there seem pretty knowledgeable and I’ve seen tons of Pennsy/etc books up there. I’ve also found the USGS historical maps to be pretty interesting. http://historical.maptech.com/

Please post anything interesting that you come across.
