Re: Experience and political office

Thanks for your advice, but I’ve said all I am going to say here…I simply wanted to introduce a potential argument that could possibly impact the transportation industry, including rail. Such points are fair game in this country these days.

As Larry has implied, this topic does have the potential to degrade very quickly. Please strive to “stay on topic” and avoid the possible inevitable. Thanks in advance…

Tom

I know postal rules.

Can I be Postmaster General?

Kurt

I second the nomination [:D]

Sure thing Kurt, why not! [^]

Let’s not do this…

Yeah… cause making hitches and running an enigne qualifies you to manage the entire transportation system…

The Obama lovers love him because he hasn’t been in Washington for 100 years like most candidates.

Palin hasn’t been to Washington, so you can’t have it both ways. Somebody said Sarah Palin wasn’t qualified to be Vice President because she has never run for the Senate.

Yet these same people loved another candidate who was unqualified by that standard, Bill Clinton.

…This will be quickly stopped if political names are brought into it.

Fair point, that’s why I revised my original post to eliminate any specific names.

My kid spent all my money on a wedding.

Can I be Secretary of the Treasury?

Paul

Yep, you sure can, and since I am in sales management I will nominate myself for Secretary of Commerce.

Man, of all of the threads that have been locked, deleted, or otherwise sanctioned on here and this one is still around?

I kind of like some of the posts of the person who started it, but if I didn’t know better, I would swear I hear the echos of kissmytrainfinder22.

Trains can run this site however the heck they want to; and I will always be grateful that they started it. But, I will never understand how we lock a thread because some 40-year-old adult might get his feelings hurt over someone that they have never met in person, but we will allow an obvious pejorative reference to political beliefs held by approximately 50% of the country. Gabe

P.S. Fortunately, I have no allegence to either major political party in the U.S., I am a monarchist–I think I should be king. But, from an entirely accademic point, I have to wonder if there are reasons this thread is still around.

OK Gabe, you are right on. I admit that I began this thread out of shear frustration after watching the DNC and RNC within the last week or so and frankly am extremely disappointed in the state of the political process in our country and SO I began this thread with tongue firmly in cheek but many took it to be a serious political statement…IT WAS NOT INTENDED TO BE!

I apologize if I upset anybodies political sensitivities. I am ending my participation in this thread NOW and FOREVER…hoping everybody is satisfied.

P.S.: I will vote for Gabe as King of the world!

No political discussions or signature messages. We know, railroads are sometimes affected by politics. However, we’ve found that political discussions almost always turn into arguments. We have a common thread of being interested in railroads. Don’t let that common bond be destroyed by political differences.

Of course we haven’t had a sitting senator with no governership experience since JFK. Only 15 people with only senatorial experience have ever been elected president. Definetly interesting piece of trivia, first time ever both choices have only served in senate.

How about the TRAINS party?

Boy, am I gonna get dinged for this one… [:D]

Seriously, My entire world is filled right now with political BS. My way of escape is through this forum, and a few about car racing. Now people want to muck those up as well?[V]

Statistically speaking, I probably agree politically with about 50% of the posters on this board. Statistically speaking, I probably disagree politically with about 50% of the posters on this board. I see absolutely nothing to be gained with alienating 1/2 of the members by turning this board into a political bashing board like the other 99% of the forums out there. Nothing.

There are literally 10,000+ forums out there, where you can argue politics until your blood is boiling and you want to scream at someone. Go find one of those, and jump in. Let’s leave this forum for the discussion of trains-please.

Who wants to talk about trains?

(Be sure you click on the word “Trains” in my post…)
