Why isn’t Homeland Security concerned about parked SUV’s at shopping malls? After all, some Al Qaida affiliate might steal one, fill it full of an IED, then return it and set it off. Just the fuel in the gas tank, properly dispersed, would make an impressive fireball!

Reality check time. There is no such thing as perfect safety! Ever since our pre-human ancestors started walking upright life has been full of dangers. The real difference between then and today is the distance at which we perceive danger. Until fairly recently, it was limited by human sight, hearing and (extremely limited) sense of smell. Now, if somebody bombs a night club in Indonesia, the media make a big to-do and people in New Haven and Memphis cancel their plans for a night out.

Unless we all move into enclaves designed like Cheyenne Mountain we will continue to be exposed to danger. I, personally, am more concerned about a possible asteroid strike than I am about a potential hazmat problem on my friendly, neighborhood railroad, terrorist-caused or not.

Reality check time! There is no way a train can be guarded 24/7 whether it’s stopped or en route. It’s too danged big! Plus, a group or a very determined individual wouldn’t have to attack the train. They can attack the tracks. It is not hard to conceal an explosive device in all that gravel. And as to how would someone know how to do it? Geezz, I was trained how to do it almost thirty years ago! The same training would apply today.

I would think that result in lots of folks not getting pregnant. Sorry, too good to pass up!

i’m not against some saveguards to protect people , but at this point HLS is just making new rules up so they look like they’re busy

They won’t just come out and tell the people of this country the real truth of the matter - which is because of our constitution and all, they really can’t impose the restrictions it would actually take to make us a lot safer, as in completely closing the borders, coast lines and air space over the US, impose all kinds of travel restrictions on people, etc. I couldn’t believe some of the stuff they came up with after 9-11 that they tried but found they couldn’t get by with because of the constitution… If HLS could have their way, none of use would be allowed to leave our homes except to go to the grocery store, doctor, school and church, but even then would have to go through all kinds of security check points and strip searches…
