Re: HUGE archive of past issues of Modern Railroader 50's - 90's

You could use the USPS Flat Rate Priority Boxes which has a inside dimensions of 11"x8 1/2"x5 1/2" if a person was to send you $8.10 which is the flat rate fee for anywhere in the USA you could use that particular box to ship a little over a year’s worth. I tested one box using a mixture of 7 issues and still had room for at least another 5.

You could probably get rid of them 12 months at a time this way to people who ask for them and provide you with the shipping funds.

Sometimes at a train show people will pick up large numbers of issues for about 25 cents each issue. I saw this happen at a recent show this year.

Make that one a batch me too. I discovered that very strong duct taping is necessary with those boxes because the magazines are heavy.

As would I. I have lots of holes in the 50’s and early 60’s. Late 60’s to mid 70’s I have all years, late 70’s slightly spotty, and I’m pretty solid from the 80’s til now. One of these days I will work back through the 40’s. Even the first year (1934) is quite rare, maybe someday…

Sell them in one year lots on E-Bay. Charge $20 shipping for the excessive weight. That will make it worth your while.

The flat rate boxes eliminate the weight from the equation, it will be very difficult to have a smart bidder pay 20 dollars for shipping one year batches.

I just finished tossing out about 300 pounds worth of old rotting paper after a month of cutting and saving good articles to be scanned.

Again Just seeing this message. If you still have them where at in Michgan are you? I would be happy to take some off your hands
