Re: I really wonder if MTH bought the T55 SD70ACE plans...hmm

It’s possible that T55’s license agreement with UP expired. There is also the issue of MTH’s negotiation with UP and the other RR’s about using their logos - this may have given them the rights to the Heritage units. Just my guess [%-)]

I seriously hope that the MTH SD70ACe does not come to fruition. The tower 55 units would actually look like the real thing, insted i think that the MTH unit won’t look much different than a tinplate engine. I don’t like MTH, and i don’t think that there is a place for them in the HO market. Don’t waste your time with the MTH units, wait for the T55 engines!

Christian

I seriously doudt that T55 sold their molds to MTH. T55’s models are made by Ajin in S Korea while MTH’s are made in China I do believe.

According to T55s web site they still plan on releasing the big EMD. Anyway MTH locos have their own DCS system and are comeing with remotely controled couplers. I wonder how that will work? To me MTH is an arrogant company thats pushing thier DCS system on us modelers that dont want it and dont need it. Im perfectly happy with a lot less than 38 functions. I only use about 4 functions and get confused with remapping of the functions I do use.

Plus I cant wait to see who MTH sues next.

Pete

They aren’t pushing me anywhere but away…I’m not buying! [|(] Proprietary control system, toy train looks and gimmicks, I don’t need it.

And if they don’t like it, they can sue me! [;)]
