Pa-leese! We all know the Milwaukee Road never realy even existed!
So why the argument?- Those of us who graduated 8th grade know Milwaukee is a fictiional underwater city in Utah, before the Great Salt Lake dried up and they had to bore deep holes sideways into Colorado for beer and call it their own, or Milwaukees Best or something but we all know it,s really just waste water filtered through, well filters and stuff and sold in stores for almost as much as regular beers.
A RR probably delivered some of the ingredients some where along the way.
Since this is a Milwaukee Road thread. Im looking for Photos on the Milwaukee from Bayard,Iowa to Council Bluffs. What part of this line was forcast to get Double Track back in the Milwaukee days?
I’d have to disagree with you there. Eventually, they would have gotten caught up in the Montana grain rate debacle. After that, it would have been “goodbye painted bridges”. Things would have gone downhill in a hurry after that.[;)]
Hey, say what you will. Personally I think the Milwaukee Road did the right thing, closing it’s doors after finding that it could no longer afford to keep it’s bridges painted in tip top shape.[oX)]
[(-D]The former Milwaukee Road line through our city forms one of the property lines at work. One block north, is the bridge that has probably never seen a good coat of paint!
Well, of course you realize that I was just being facetious with the contribution made to this thread, given the satiric “for nutcases” title to the thread.
And just being honest, the threads this forum has had on the milwaukee, in between the fountains of vitriol that laced throughout, were some of the most informative and fun to read threads I ever recall here.
We all know that if they had had remote control trains with walk around controls and the dispatchers could have controlled them, they would have made it, Technology would have saved them. Would have needed no “blue-collar employees” management could have utilized remote control operations and save the Milwaukee Road.[}:)]
I’ll agree 100 % about past Milwaukee Road threads. Funny thing is, try to start a “Non controversal Milwaukee Road thread”, and no one wants to participate-go figure.
“Funny how the nut cases have not made an appearance yet”
Hey Chad you take that back! I am TOO a nutcase! I tried to present two sides to a story the other day as an experiment and got called “psychologically conflicted!” I’m highly offended.[D)]
But I’m really not trying to start anything. It’s been pretty warm out lately and I don’t drink enough water so I’m runnin’ a little low on ammo for a p***ing match today.
Yeah I know those guys even though I’ve only been around here less than a month. The forum can be informative AND entertaining, not too mention enlightening from all the different perspectives.
I want to apologize for starting this thread. The whole thing was mean spirited, and I am sorry. I don’t know what came over me when I posted it. The temperature on these boards has been going up all Spring, and I think the heat finally got to me.
As for people expressing strong feelings about the Milwaukee Road, or any other railroad, I will say now that I think it’s OK. I have no problem with it. I am sorry for infering that anyone here was a “nut case.”
Now, time to go mow the lawn. Let’s have a nice summer everyone and let’s try to be nice.
