I have one of the Walthers TT kits, and have experienced the same problem that others have — gears not meshing properly. Before I give up and throw it out, I have had a thought and would like your opinions.
Would replacing the Walthers 1050 motor with a direct-drive, 12 vdc, 2 rpm motor connected directly to the bridge post work? I have some older Hankscraft SwitchMaster motors (3 vdc, 4 rpm) and a Switch Tender (MictoMark) motor available. My thoughts are to connect the motor directly to the post, passing the connecting post through the bottom of the Walthers motor and gear housing and mounting the motor to the bottom of the housing. RPM redueced via a potentiometer. Direction of the motor to be controlled through a DPDT rotary switch.
Anyone think it will work?
