Re: There's a fine line

It means his other thread is gone, zapped, outta here even.

I think as long as he keeps the link to his business in his signature, this thread may follow the direction of his preceding advertisement.

Again, since I haven’t brought it up for a while, I’d like to suggest that MR provide a separate forum for product announcements, particularly for small model-railroad-related businesses. I don’t want to invite the big boys to deluge the forums with daily ads, but I think that a space for new products or small service-oriented shops would be completely appropriate here. We’ve had a couple of “Who makes decals?” posts this week, for example, and if a small vendor with a good printer and a supply of paper wanted to, he might post a thread in such a separate forum.

For now, though, Bergie has his marching orders, and for this forum, at least, they do seem like the right way to go.

I just put the address of his website in the useful links board on my forum. That way I can find it fast when anyone asks about it.

Ditto! I saw this guy’s posts (similar ones on various forums), and his product looks like some folks could use it, and it would be hard to find otherwise. I don’t think they’re in the Walthers catalog, for example. (Hint, hint). I don’t see an easy way to limit such a forum to the “little guys”, but surely there’s a way.

In terms of the “fine line” between advertisement and endorsement… I think One Track Mind does a good job keeping on the right side of that line. He discusses general hobby shop practices and issues but doesn’t advertise specific products or specials at his store.

Same here.

Thanks, you guys for the offer. I will take you up on that. When I made my original post I wasn’t asking people to buy, I was asking them to look and let me know what they thought of it. I also posted two more time asking for feedback. Who would know better what looks, works, reads the best that all of you. Many spicific product are endorsed on here. Thats why its a fine line. I know Im a new member and joined the forum to make my original post. I have been on the trains.com newsletter list for more than a year. I do a lot with the Monon historical-tech society.

A place for small guys to post there products would be nice. There are no online classifieds. The forum format is a wonderful way to get folks to look and get feedback. Im thankful that MR has this for us to use.

anybody whos a friend of the monon historical-tech society is a friend of mine.

as my friend jeff said, you are welcome to join up as one of his members.
