This is conceptually an interesting topic. It has been a heavy weekend and I do believe in keeping things light. However, when things are kept light, the heavy crowd chimes in with a cacophony of “off topic!” and “no substance!” verbiage. In keeping it light do we compromise our professional model building image for a more whimsical, “playing with toy train” moniker? Who is allowed to draw the line on what is “heavy” and what is “light” and how far we can go as a collective of model train enthusiasts from multiple countries with different views of humor, worth and relevance in deciding what is what? This is in fact the heaviest of the heavy topics I’ve seen this weekend.
Me? I keep it as light as possible, hence my signature block. So with my pending deployment this week to OIF, I choose to keep it light from here on out. I apologize in advance if I get whimsical, light hearted or just plain silly on any posting in the next few days. Now, seing as how I’ll be gone a year and the kids are at grandmas, I’m going to chase the wife around the house for a while[:-^]. See ya tamarra!
PS. Lux Lucet In Tenebris (etc)… means “The light shines in the darkness, nothing therefore is death to us”
Selector, check it out dog, I haven’t seen anything like that since MJ dangled his baby off the balcony. Negative reactions are so overblown these days. Must be PC at all costs. Did I ever tell ya about my first job at an orange juice plant? I got canned, couldn’t concentrate.[:o)]
What’s wrong with a weird sense of humor? It’s better than no sense of humor. It’s not as someone was REALLY kicking a baby of the tracks. Like the title says, lighten up.
I thought it was HYSTERICALLY funny! Just picked myself off the floor, in fact. My students introduced me to YOUTUBE this year, and believe me, that’s MILD for some of the wild and wooly stuff that shows up on that website.
I think it was Spain, probably. Those tracks looked awfully wide for standard gauge.
Don’t despair Crandell, the video really is instructive. Now I know what to do if I ever see a baby on the tracks - punt the little ankle-biter into next week! [(-D]
Oops, sorry. I forgot - must be serious and grim. [|(]
Disgusting video, appalling taste. For shame! [tdn]
nothing wrong with weird sence of humor, however paising, and promoting stupid people doing stupid, dangerous things is, well, stupid.
the ultra dangerous act of placing an infant on the tracks, no matter how long before the train arrives, is irresponsable, appalling, and probally should be prosecuted as a criminal act.
might have just as well given the child a loaded gun, but it’s ok, the saftey is on.
You do realize that the clip was fake and not real, right? Well at least the kicking of the baby part was not real. But in any case, it’s still just for fun.
Edit: I personally found it to be a stupid video and didn’t laugh at it, but I’m not going to frown on it saying: “they should be arrested, how dare they” or the like. To each his own as far as humor goes.
We are just curious, how do people feel about stunts in Hollywood that crash Planes, Trains, and Automobiles. Or does Throw Momma from the Train, give you cold sweats.
At the risk of continuing to stir the pot, have all of you read the comments in that thread? They get it! The video is a gag, pure and simple…clear to some of us…but it was the reaction from the respondents that amused me.
A bit like the fact that I have three sweet cats at home that I wouldn’t ever want to hurt, but you should hear the comments I get from the Bumper sticker on my truck that says, “I love cats! They taste like Chicken.” Unfortuately the world has lost its sense of humor. I thought the video was a riot. By the way if you stop the video just after she kicks the doll and as she runs off the track, you can see where it was pasted together.
yes, i realize the kicking off the tracks part was a doll, but placing the child on the tracks, one of the worlds most dangerous places, that’s ok with you? what about leaving the kid in a parked car, is it ok in january, but criminal in july?
