Did you read the rest of it?
Bergie see post, he no like, post go poof!
Like my own forum, this is not a gripe-fest forum. If you got a bone to pick with somebody, go take it up with them. The rest of us want to talk about trains.
On my own forum, if you try to start ragging on someone else (forum member or not) you will get a warning. The second such post, you are banned. So consider yourself lucky on here … you would be banned at this point on my own forum. I just do not tolerate mean-spirited posts.
Back to trains! [swg]
Corey, here’s the thing. Us old guys (I didn’t really say that) love to see younger guys like you get involved in the hobby. We really enjoy helping them get started, and giving advice. Everytime a kid posts here for the first time there is a secret party! But it’s a two way street. We want to respect you. We want to treat you as a fellow model railroader. But it is hard to do that if you act like a spoiled 11 year old (actully more like 8, lately). Please give it a try. You can learn so much so fast with the help of the people here. And they really want to do it.
Dear Railroad Boy
Mommy’s a calling and I think it’s beddie bye for Bonzo
Run along now… that’s it…You can do it…
I knew ya could[:D]
For info, check the “WARNING” post. Someone had a problem with getting e-mails related to the other post. We’re not sure whether they were generated by something in the forum software, or some malicious character spreading Spam. Without any definitive information, we should strongly consider the possibility that the thread was deleted for this reason, not content.
In general, if the “direction” of a thread isn’t appropriate, Bergie will lock it, but not delete it. Threads get deleted when people start using profanity or go into X-treme put-down mode. I got a good night’s sleep last night, so the problems may have gotten out of hand after I drifted off to the Land of Nod.
It’s too bad you didn’t get to read at least a filtered version of the thread, Corey. There was a lot of wisdom there, both from modellers and from Dads. We were all kids once, in my case back when dinosaurs ruled the earth, and most of us have learned enough to understand that your own Dad was probably right, and that he was trying to teach you the lessons we’ve all had to learn.
I don’t know if you saw the post by railroadyoshi. In retrospect, his post suggesting that we’d all heard enough on the topic, and we should just let it drift down and away, was a pretty good suggestion. Instead, we ignored his sage advice, some of us got our inboxes dirtied and Bergie had to take special action. Yoshi isn’t old enough to have a driver’s license yet.
Stick around, Corey. We’d all like to see you develop into a good modeller, and a happy and respected young man.
RAILROADBOY: There was a member of this forum about a year ago, that started some mean spirited replies to threads. He was in his 20’s, so he certainly should have known better by that point in his life…but he didn’t. He was kicked off the forum finally. At age 11, you are fast approaching your teen age years, a time that is very difficult for most kids. You are too young to be treated as an adult, and too old to be treated as a child. As others have said, this model RR forum has people from age 7 to 97. We enjoy the friendship of each other, the helpful advice, some great ideas, and a sharing of experiences. You have a golden opportunity in front of you within this forum…“if” you choose wisely and use this forum for it’s intended purpose. Give it a try son, ask for help when you need it, don’t be a loner.
This thread is inappropriate for this forum and should be eliminated.
Tom
The same goes for my forum.
I don’t think he is 11 guys.
Can we delete this one too? I mean, c’mon. Clearly this kid enjoys the negative attention he gets and is trying to pick up where the other thread left off. CUT HIM OFF. Do not feed the trolls!
Thanks.
Otherwise, let’s turn this into a model train related thread. Here goes:
I’m looking forward to Atlas’ new N scale GP7/9 coming out in N scale with DCC this month. Atlas does a good job matching PRR Brunswick Green (or DGLE in the PRR’s paint catalog). Anyone agree/disagree?
I can’t wait for my GP-40 (Atlas) in November… got one on preorder. If it runs anything like the MP-15 I got last year, it is gonna be great. What sweet running locos.
Peter
I’m looking at one of those Precision Craft Great Northern 4-8-4’s. Waiting to see if Trainworld will carry it as they seem ton offer great prices.
Fergie
Do they come with sound? I used to think sound was a gimmick until I went to my LHS, and he was testing a Big Boy that he’d just installed sound in. Now, I don’t think I could buy another engine unless it was sound-equipped. Then, of course, I wouldn’t want to run any of my no-sound engines. (No, the ancient grinding Athearn F7 from the early 1960’s doesn’t count as a “sound-equipped engine.” It’s just very noisy. So loud, in fact, that when my teenager started playing rap last night, I just pulled the F7 out of the yard and let it run around the layout. Problem solved.)
Well, I’m STILL waiting for the PCM N scale PRR M1b Mountain. The M1b was the king of the PRR Middle Division, so I NEED one (try to get my wife to understand how it’s NEED, and not WANT). However, they’ve had troubles with production and keep postponing the release. It’s projected to have DCC and sound.
WOW! I ordered an Athearn Genesis Big Boy back in April and it arrived the other day. A day earlier I got three passenger cars that were preordered earlier this year. How about that two preorder items coming within a day of each other.
Really like the Big Boy. I’s a monster!
Bill
I just got my order in for the HO Precision Craft PAs. I ordered an ABA set of the Daylight PAs for my Sunset Limited. They come with sound and DCC, neither of which I have ever gotten with a locomotive. I hope the sound (Loksound) is as good as it is touted to be. I definately couldn’t pass 'em up for $450!!
Wow, you guys are getting in the toys. I’ve had some little stuff, decal paper and fire escapes, on order for a while. Between vacation for me and vacation for my LHS, they haven’t made it into my hot little hands yet. Still, it’s always fun to drop buy and see what’s running around the demo tracks today.
I Have not bought anything lately. Or done any Modeling. But I am pretty excitied about all the New England roads Atlas has been coming out with in N scale. The rest of this year and 2007 should be good for Modeling. Tim
I don’t have anything ordered. The weather’s been too nice so I’m spending as much time as possible outside. Give it another few weeks and I’ll be cooped up in the basement until about April. Once the cooler weather arrives, I’m gong to try my hand at scratchbuilding an industry for my layout. Right now, all I have are brick buildings. I’m going to try some type of wooden structure and see how it comes out.
Also looking forward to doing more scenery, replacing one switch machine, and running some trains.
Tom
