So, I guess, they will take the locomotive itself to Cleveland also and work on it there?

I read on some rail-related site that 2100 was involved in legal wrangling and had leins attached to it. Also it was claimed that the boiler had been damaged in the attempt to make it an oil-burner. Hopefully, these problems have been resolved and a T1 can be operable again.

Does this mean that the american steam preservation association. Now owns her too? Cause if so… How awesome is that. They own two historic steam locomotive’s. Or am I misunderstanding something?

Four Reading T-1s extant; you’d think one would be running somewhere.

Good news! I have been worried about this classic steamer.

Those of us here who are geezers may remember that sister T-1 2102 was kept down the road in Akron, after being purchased by the old Steam Tours, Inc., around 1967, and was there in the South Akron roundhouse (PRR) until Summer 1968, when it left for trips in Illinois and Michigan. So, not the first time a T-Hog has called NE Ohio home.

In late fall,1968 the 2102ame to Conneaut,Ohio and was stored int the former Nickel Plate round house there until spring 1971,I believe, when she left for Akron,Ohio for a weekend of trips to Spenser, Ohio.

Engine 2102 ran trips along the Greenbrier River in West Virginia during the summer of 1971. They began in Ronceverte, WV all the way to Durbin, WV where the engine was turned on the wye there. It made a stop at Cass, WV to allow the riders to ricde the afternoon run on that tourist line.

I think both 2101 & 2102 were operable in the 1970’s and one of them was used for the Chessie Steam Specials in the Cuyahoga Valley line to the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo, and later on a trip south from a yard in Cleveland to Wellington(?). I also remember a trip from Akron to Western PA.

Getting that locomotive on a flatcar and headed anywhere is going to be an interesting move. There are going to be all sorts of clearance problems as well as weight issues. No, I’m not saying it can’t be done, I’m just thinking it’s going to take some serious planning.
