I’m building a new platform this year and I’m going to use the Woodland Scenice ReadyGrass Vinyl Mat and adhesive. It says to prep pourous surfaces with acrylic paint before applying the adhesive. I was just wondering if this would be necessary, the cons of not prepping my plywood base with paint, best paint for base coat, etc.
I bought a church kit. I bought Woodland Scenics cemetary tombstone kit. I bought a large “monument” kit for a “prominent citizen stone”. I bought a sandwiched foam board for its base. I bought a grassmat about the size of what I thought the whole size of the thing to be.
Suffice it to say I DID NOT use the grass mat!!! {and I did not read any instructions}.
It looks tacky. BUt if you wish to use it, then I would follow the instructions as they present them for best results!
If you have to paint the surface anyhow, why not just sprinkle some ground foam into the wet paint? You can vary the color and texture right on the paint. Later you can add more colors and texture. If you are going to use it for a manicured lawn, it will probably look about right You can dress up a mat with various ground foams to improve its appearance in other locations.
