Real 2347 C&O geep

So what do you think a real C&O geep would go for on ebay. Unfortunately, this one has a rusty frame and trucks, but the shell is pretty clean, no bends, breaks, or scratches, the lettering is good, screw holes are fine as are the window struts. I saw an excellent one go for $6800 on one of those private auctions that are now held on eaby all the time. Of course the Greenburg price is much lower than that, so there is a real question as to what this engine can fetch.

I am trying to decied whether to repaint the frame and sell it or keep it or you know , heck, that engine can pay off some bills.

BTW it was an ebay find in a huge lot with of all things a 203 switcher set???

Hello ogauge! If the frame & trucks are rusty. Then, I would guess that the value will be at least 50% less than a clean version.Perhaps more, if it does not have its original box and instruction sheet. And, if Lionel reissues this version in its postwar series the value of your engine will drop even more as most folks will want a clean engine. Not one that they have to spend time and money on to make it look and run nice.[2c]

Good points Keith, I’ll probably just clean it up and run it, it will look good with its 2365 brother. Condition or not, it is nice to claim one of the toughest to find of postwar engines.
