Real BNSF Compared To O Gauge BNSF

I found a video on youtube so this isn’t my video but this is of a real BNSF SD70ACe and it’s horn sounds just like the Lionel O Gauge BNSF SD70ACe. You tell me.

I think the O-Gauge version is a bit smaller. [swg]

Hey, that’s my video! [8D] I agree, Lionel’s SD70 horn sounds very close to the real thing. It’s not a true K5LLA like on the real engines, but it’s close. As far as appearance of the BNSF SD70ACe, Lionel did a pretty good job in comparison to the prototype. The only things they got wrong was they painted the top of the cab black, when it should be orange, and the side sun shades should be full length, but those aren’t huge mistakes. The overall model itself is awesome. My engine (the one in the video) worked perfectly right out of the box, and has been going strong for almost three months now since I first got it.

I also choose your video because you put a better demonstration out on YouTube for this type of engine compared to all the other poeple, where they don’t really do annoucements or horn. Keep up the good.

Headlight is down below cab on real one. Lionel has it above the cab.

BNSF actually ordered SD70ACe’s with two different headlight positions. Units 9370-9399 were equipped with lights above the cab, while all their other units, numbers 9130-9369 have headlights on the nose. Lionel decided to model 9380, so the headlight position for this particular unit is correct. It would be cool if Lionel made a noselight version, though.

Agreed, noselight would give it a different look.
