Realistic Ho Freight Cars

I am looking for companys or brands that have the most realistic features of freight cars. Meaning they match the real thing the closest when it come to measurements and details. They can either be kits or ready-to-run type, price isn’t a facter.

Go to www.kadee.com and pull down their HO freight cars. Pricey, yes “but price isn"t a factor”.

Atlas makes a great ACF PressureAid Center Flow Car.
It’s less expensive. Should be able to get them from Trainworld at a discount.

Also the Lifelike proto 2000 series and again cheaper.

Geneses 60ft boxcars and 50ft boxcars.Branchline 50ft Berwicks.

Thanks for all the feedback and keep it coming to everyone else.

FYI: I’ll take a look the next time I’m at the hobby shop to see each of these freight cars in person, as actually looking, feeling really tell me if it is quality and life like.

I was wondering, what time era are you interested in?1950’s or modern?I enjoy assembling the Proto 2000 kits, good paint and a lot of details on them.

I’ll be modeling the late 1970’s to 1985’s. The B&O, C&O to Chessie System change over will be the era.

In reply about what co. makes the most realistic FC’s I would go with Kadee then Branch Line ,Itermountain,Atlas and Bowser,Athern since price isn’n an option go with Kadee and your check book

Check out the Accu Rail cars as well.

Details West made a line of boxcars.

If you are modeling the B&O, you have to contact the B&O historical society. They offer cars and engines through their company store that pass their standards. They work with several manufacturers to help made the new preoducts accurate to the prototype. The members can make recomendations as well. I recently got several caboose resin kits and they are beautiful but much less cost than brass kits.
