Realistic Modeling For Toy Trains - A Hi-Rail Guide

If you’re headed to York, please stop by the Kalmbach booth. I’ll be doing a book signing from 1 - 2 PM on Thursday and from 10 - 11 AM on Friday. This is my new book and I’m really excited to see it finally come together.

If you don’t do York, you can order the book through Kalmbach or me. If you order through me, you’ll get a signed copy.

Dennis Brennan

Huge congrats on your book, Dennis. [tup][tup][tup][tup]

I should see you on Friday.

Right road name, that’s for sure!

Thanks, Fife. I’ll look forward to meeting you.

Dennis,

Congratulations on what looks to be an exciting and informative book for all toy train enthusiasts. From having worked with Dennis for more than 20 years at “Classic Toy Trains,” I can attest to how skilled a modeler he is and how much he and the staff of Kalmbach’s Books Department have done to prepare this outstanding book.

Every reader, regardless of the extent of his or her experience in the hobby or the size of the layout, will find so much to learn about designing a track plan, developing an enjoyable and attractive layout, building structure kits and modifying them to make them unique, and making all sorts of great scenery.

If you’re coming to the TCA show in York next month, be sure to stop by the CTT booth and meet Dennis while getting your personal copy of his book. He’s a terrific guy, filled with laughter and enthusiasm for the greatest hobby around.

Be sure to check out his Web site www.BrennansModelRR.com to see the line of ballast, structure kits, fencing, and more than he offers.

If the toy train hobby has a Renaissance Man–knowledgeable about collecting and operating, designing scenery and structures, and building great models and layouts–Dennis Brennan is the one!

Roger Carp

Thank you, Roger. Lunch is on me!

Is this excellent product available yet for those of us who cannot go to York? I let my TCA membership expire years ago. Bad mistake, but that’s a topic for another thread.

George

Absolutely, George. For an autographed copy, you can order it through me by calling 816-252-4605 for credit card orders. Otherwise, you can send a check or money order for $22.90 ( 19.95 + 2.95 shipping) to me at:

or call us at 800-533-6644, for a non-autographed copy.

Dennis … be careful what you wish for. [swg]

I hope to see you at York. Congrats on the book.

Oh, and its the finest collection of tips and techniques for hi-railing that I’ve ever read. For me, Chapter 7 (customizing commercial structures) was worth the price of admission by itself.

Thanks, Bob. I’ve tried to include the tips, tricks, and techniques I’ve picked up, figured out, or developed over the years. Besides just showing how I do something, I’ve also given the why. Armed with that knowledge, it’s easy to adapt my methods to any modeling endeavor.

And Buckeye–I’ve been warned. I’ll look forward to meeting you, as well.

I would like to thank everyone who stopped by the Kalmbach booth to say hi and pick up a copy of my book. It is really nice to have a personal conversation with those we only know from a computer screen.

Book sales were swift. We ran out of copies and had to direct people to another book seller who also sold out. So if you didn’t get an autographed copy at York, you can still order one through me by calling 816-252-4605.

For a non-autographed copy, you can always order through Kalmbach :

or call Kalmbach at 800-533-6644

Thanks again, guys. I’ll see you in April.

Dennis Brennan

Dennis:

“Thanks again, guys. I’ll see you in April.”

so you have caught the York fever. Really like what you did to that plastic station. the sections of kitbashing, backdrops and past CTT article on same have been very helpful.

Bill D

PS: pack one suitcse with your ballast

No problem. Thanks, Bill

For those who will be attending TrainFest in Milwaukee on the weekend of November 13 & 14, I’ll be doing another book signing on Saturday the 13th at the Kalmbach booth. Book sales have been going very well. If you don’t have one, please stop by. If you already have a copy, please bring it and I’ll gladly sign it.

Dennis Brennan

Dennis–

Wish we could attend this year but there’s something about our son’s wedding that weekend in MPLS that I need to attend? I will be contacting you soon about getting your book for Sharyl, seems like a great Christmas gift [tup]

Wife asked me last night what she could get me for Christmas…now I know. Thanks.
