Realistic roads

It’s been a while but I’m back. I have a few questions and sugestions for realistic roads. I use 8" x 18" gray paving blocks for mine. I was wondering what to use for lane lines. I was thinking automobile pinstriping tape. The other thought I had was using pieces of old bicycle reflectors or cheap plastic jewels to modle those little plastic reflectors commonly used on roads in Florida and elswhere in the South.

BTW, it’s good to be back.

Highway departments sometimes lay lines down (rather than paint them). It would be interesting to find their source so you could cut actual lines.

Your ideas sound pretty good. A stencil and outdoor paint would do the trick.

I have used the roofing product…“roll roof” to a good effect It can be cut to resemble a driving surface., plus is weathers well. Also, if it is damaged or destroyed for whatever reason, it is easy to replace.

Check hobby or graphic art supply stores for graphics tape. Can be had in many colors and many widths. I think it is vinyl…very nice stuff.

Gee guys, thanks for the tip about the vinyl. I need to make some parking spaces at my burger stand. That will really work great!

JC Whitnay sells an auto pinstriping gadget. A little bottle with a wheel/brush combination end on it. I think it sells for about $30.

Hey there,
My concern would be how well the vinyl tape would stick to cement blocks. Painting the actual lines may prove to be better. Let us know how you make out. Later eh…Brian.
