I’ve decided the paint on one of my 800-series boxcars is just in too poor condition to leave as-is, so I’ve decided to repaint it. I successfuly removed the lubrication instruction label off the bottom using a razor blade, but it’s still in one piece although quite brittle. After I’ve completed the repaint, what is the safest adhesive to use to reapply it?
Train tender sells new repo’s of it. And Jeff probably could tell you the best, I’m sure some in here have had great luck with one product or the other.
It was probably held on with hide glue. If you just redampen it, it will probably stick. Hide glues use to be common in stationary stores, you would have to check and see if anybody still sells it. Hide glue is what use to be on envelope flaps and postage stamps.
