rear truck jammed

Hello. I’m hopeing someone can help me with this. I have an MTH ho SD70ace. The rear truck has jammed and I can’t seem to figure out how to get to it. I’ve gottin the body off but I’m stuck. I don’t want to go and starting pulling things off and mess it up any worse then it already is.

I forgot to mention the it’s the warm gear that is jammed.

This has happened to a few of my engines. Usually they’ve sucked a piece of ballast into the gears. Check the gears closely for any debris.

Hope this helps.

I would suggest that you contact MTH directly to get instructions on how to remove the trucks from your locomotive. It probably isn’t difficult, you just need to know what pieces come apart to let the truck drop out of the chassis. Here is the link to their service inquiries:

Go to “General Trouble Shooting Tips” and select “Locomotives”, and then “Proto Sound -2” .

I hope it is as simple as the grain of stray ballast that was suggested.

Are you 100% sure its the worm? Try removing the bottom cover of the trucks and see if any of the axle gears or anything in there is jammed.

yeah it was the warm. I finally got everything apart with out missing anything up. Turned out the clip holding the truck inplace snaped off and the warm miss alined. I cleaned everything out and it works better than it ever has.

Good job
