I hope that one day Ross Rowland will bring the C&O Lima 614 to run the rails in the southeastern PA area. The 614 happens to be my second favorit steam loco built. I would love to see that locomotive strut her stuff!!!
I never had a chance to see the 614 but it sure would be nice to have her running again[:)].
I well recall 614 when she was operating down here. IIRC, the ACE 3000 project was in 1985. Anyway, it was one of the “coldiest and snowiest” winters here in a long time.
RE previous postings about C&O engine names
4-8-4s were “Greenbriers”
2-8-4s were “Kanawhas”
According to legend, the names were from on-line rivers.
Some other roads that used different names were, of course, the NYC (Husdon, Mohawk, Niagara), and the NC&StL. The NC&StL’s 4-8-4s were called Dixies (for obvious reasons), yellowjackets, or stripes - depended on the paint scheme they had. Then there was the CMStP&P who called thier 4-6-4s Baltics.
